Music

In our Music School, all students can explore classical, rock, jazz and international styles. They can also experience the fun of participating in choirs, bands, and many ensembles at school and at other Melbourne venues. Private and small group lessons are also available in specialist areas.

Students have the opportunity to experience the exciting hands-on approach of the Years 2 and 3 strings program and the Years 7 and 8 instrumental program. Many develop an on-going interest in and commitment to Music.

Each year, Mentone Girls' Grammar School produces a Kindergarten to Year 4 Christmas Concert and a Senior School Production, so that each and every student in the School has an opportunity to perform.

Other performance opportunities include Musicals and Drama co-productions with our neighbouring schools.

Past performances have included the energetic musical FAME, the thought-provoking Soul Circle and the comical Tales of the Pirate Queen full of funny one-liners and catchy tunes, just to name a few!

The ever-popular House Music, Annual Music Concert and House Dance competitions give further performance opportunities. Students are responsible for music and dance choices, arrangements and outfits and are a real display of student creativity, initiative and enterprise. 

School Assemblies and special events also showcase the artistic achievements of students at every level.
