International Interest for Maths at Mentone

Mentone Girls' Grammar recently played host to two distinguished Mathematics experts from the Curriculum Development Institute in Hong Kong. Organised by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), our special guests came to Australia to learn more about how we design and implement Classroom Based Assessment in Senior Secondary Mathematics.

Principal Fran Reddan, together with our own nationally acclaimed Mathematics specialist Gary Motteram provided an overview of the Secondary Mathematics program in Australia, implementation of SACS and other classroom based assessment, as well as some of the unique features and practices here at Mentone Girls' Grammar.

Our guests also observed a Year 9 class to get a broader view of the Mathematics program and to enhance the knowledge they have gathered during their short time in Australia.

Principal Fran Reddan said that she is very proud of the Mathematics program here at Mentone Girls' Grammar and particularly the expertise of our highly qualified Mathematics teachers.

"It is wonderful to share our knowledge and experiences with colleagues around the world and we are very fortunate to have specialists like Gary on our teaching team who have built a fantastic curriculum that engages and inspires our students across all year levels," said Principal Reddan.
