Top Class for 2008 VCE student
Alex Woods certainly has something to celebrate with a composition chosen as one of the best pieces composed in Victoria in 2008.
Alex, who completed her VCE last year at Mentone Girls' Grammar School wrote the composition as part of the Music Styles subject. She is one of just 11 composers selected by the panel from the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA).
Alex has been invited to perform her composition at the Top Class Sound Concert on Friday 6 March 2009 in the Iwaki Auditorium at the ABC Centre, Southbank where she will play the flute accompanied on the piano by Mentone Girls' Grammar School teacher Campbell Reither.
"This is a tremendous achievement for Alex and we are very proud of the dedication she has shown over the years to her music. We wish her all the very best for the future," said music teacher Ella Martin.
