A very Big Night Out

Big and Horny band

The Big Night Out gala dinner and dance held at the Brighton International on 29 August was the last of our major community events to celebrate our 110th Anniversary. Over 240 parents, staff, Old Girls and friends attended the dazzling evening which featured an amazing fire display and the incredible sounds of the 13-piece Big and Horny band. We also launched a new corporate DVD that delighted guests with a visual commentary about our School and a history of our remarkable young women.

We wish to thank our sponsors who made the evening possible, in particular our major sponsor Bendigo Bank and gold sponsor Ventura. We would also like to thank our brilliant MC, the multi-talented Actor, Director, Producer, Writer and Old Girl ('87), Katrina Mathers, who kept guests entertained with stories from the Old School, her fabulous "Sandra Sultry" character from the TV show The Wedge, and she even managed to get a group of Old Girls up for a rendition of the School song!

We would also like to thank the organising committee; Katya Dunham, Marketing and Communications Manager, Parents' Association members Ann King and Kerry Keller, current staff Keli McInnes and Marilyn Wiber, and President of the Old Girls' Club Lizzy Fitzgerald.

We thank everyone involved and all of our guests for helping us to celebrate this incredible milestone year and toast the future success of Mentone Girls' Grammar School.

With grateful thanks to our sponsors

A Message from our BIG RED Sponsor Bendigo Bank

Parkdale and Mentone Community Branch of the Bendigo Bank are proud to partner with Mentone Girls' Grammar School.  The strong community focus and appreciation of integrity in all endeavours, provides a great synergy between our two organisations.

As a Community Branch, it is with thanks to our growing customer base that, 10 years on, Parkdale/Mentone Community Branch has been able to return in excess of $1.5million to the local community, in the form of shareholder dividends, sponsorship and donations. We have an annual commitment to support a number of organisations such as sporting clubs and community groups, including an undertaking to support the Mayoral Charity Trust with a $20,000 donation each year. We are also proud to help those less fortunate in the community through an annual donation to the Mentone Community Assistance & Information Bureau; an organisation which has been quietly offering a range of assistance programs for over 30 years.

All of these substantial projects have only been made possible by our customers, and the more people who bank with us, the more funds we have available to put back into the community. At the heart of our organisation is our belief that successful customers make successful communities which in turn makes for a successful bank...and in that order!

We congratulate Mentone Girls' Grammar School on reaching this incredible milestone and for being such an important part of our community.
