Our Early Learning Centre (ELC) is leading the way in Early Years education. We offer the flexibility of three, four or five day options for both our three and four year old programs. Upon entry to the ELC, students are placed in one of our three specialist rooms – either Seahorse for our younger students aged from three, or the Dolphin or Octopus room for our four year old students.

Students are engaged through a play-based curriculum that recognises and accommodates the different developmental rates and interests of each student. Our programs are based on the inquiry-based learning concepts of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Early Years Learning Framework.

The ELC program aims to instil a sense of excitement and wonder about the world, to nurture a love of learning and build positive self esteem. We immerse our young learners in experiences which enable them to explore, question, think creatively, problem solve, develop planning skills, and understand cause and effect. We also build on emerging literacy and numeracy skills and work to consolidate and extend the abilities and skills of every student.

ELC students are an integral part of the wider school community and participate in many key events such as the annual ELC – Year 4 Christmas Concert, visiting performers and special assemblies. Each student also has a Year 3 buddy who visits regularly and with whom a special friendship is formed. Students also participate in a number of specialist classes including Music, Perceptual Motor Program, Ballet, Swimming, scientific inquiry, ICT and library time.

Our commitment is to bring together each student, her family and the School in a co-operative and supportive partnership, working towards a year of fulfilment and growth at each level. A portfolio of photographs, commentaries and samples of work creates a positive record of the unique learning journey of each student, which is presented to them at the end of the year.
