We are delighted to announce that Principal Fran Reddan was recently presented with the 2016 School Library of Victoria (SLAV) School Leader’s Award. The SLAV School Leader’s Award is made to a school leader who demonstrates outstanding support of the school library and the work of the library team.

“The selection panel believes that Fran is an exceptional School Leader and the award acknowledges Fran’s support and encouragement of the Kerferd Library to excel and meet the challenges of delivering 21st century learning and literacy support head on. This contributes to the development of a model 21st Century School Library.”

The Kerferd Library caters for all students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Students enjoy access to a rich collection that directly supports the curriculum and encourages literacy and broader reading. Of the 55,000 plus items in the collection, just over 30,000 are available 24/7 via the School’s intranet portal.  In addition, our highly qualified Teacher-Librarians value students as lifelong learners and provide a dynamic learning and teaching environment supported by information literacy programs and curriculum resources of the highest standard.

The SLAV Awards presentations took place in conjunction with the School Library Association of Victoria’s Conference ‘Engaging Teen Readers’, which was held at State Library of Victoria Conference Centre on Friday 25 November 2016.
