Mentone Girls' Grammar is inviting applications for the leadership position of Head of English.
This key leadership position has become available, as the School is preparing to farewell our current incumbent, who is retiring at the end of the 2023 academic year. Under their expert leadership, the English Department has flourished. The School now commences its search to appoint a replacement.
As Head of English, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of the Department. This includes the responsibilities of being a Head of Department, leading and working with English teachers in the ongoing development of a curriculum that captures the interest and enhances the capability of girls in English from Years 7 - 12. Subject areas include: English classes (Years 7 to 12), Literature (Years 10 to 12), English as an Additional Language (EAL) and extension and remediation programs where needed.
At the heart of this role is a leader who can work to promote a collaborative and collegial culture within the School where high quality professional learning, the sharing of practice and ongoing feedback inspires the pursuit of excellence across all areas. As a dynamic, highly motivated individual with a deep understanding of the role played by the subject in engaging universal truths, the Head of English plays a critical part in being an articulate, inspiring role model, promoting a love of English in the context of a pre-vocational, liberal, humane education.
The successful candidate will be available to commence in Term 1 2024 and it is anticipated that there will be opportunities during the latter part of Term 4 for the appointed candidate to visit the School and receive a comprehensive handover.
Applications, addressed to the Principal, Ms Natalie Charles, should include a full Curriculum Vitae and contact details of three professional referees.
The closing date for applications is Monday 18 September 2023. Please direct any queries to the Director of Human Resources, Ms Monica Cabrita via email.
