About the role

The School is looking for an experienced Bus Driver to join their Property team.  Reporting to the Property Manager, the School Bus Driver is responsible for operating the school bus and transporting school-aged children safely and efficiently over specified routes to and from school. 

Part-time (ongoing) hours will be worked in two shifts per day:

Morning Hours: 6:45am – 8:45am (Monday to Friday)*

Afternoon Hours: 3:15pm – 5:15pm (Monday to Friday)*

In this role the successful candidate will be responsible for:

Drive the bus for morning and afternoon school run

Additional hours: Sport and excursions runs as required as well as relieving staff on leave

Ensure that the bus can be operated safely before driving and conducts pre-trip safety inspections as required to include observing visual defects and checking operating systems to include brakes, horn, lights, emergency flashers, extended stop arms, and door-opening devices

 Operate the bus safely over an assigned route, picking up and delivering only authorised students at assigned bus stops, and watch to ensure that students hurrying for the bus are not left behind

Keep assigned time schedules, which may require driving during pre-day light and dusk periods, and make every effort to be on time while ensuring safety

Obey all traffic laws and transportation practices and operate the school bus in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

To be considered for this role, you will display:

Knowledge of procedures and state road laws governing the safe operation of a school bus

Be able to drive the full range of the bus fleet

Possess an excellent driving record and driving skills and knowledge of road rules and school bus regulations

Knowledge of and the ability to accurately and quickly learn local streets/roads and routes

Possess the ability to interact with students (including students with special needs if applicable), parents, and the School Community in a positive and proper manner

Ability to maintain student discipline and ensure that student behaviour is not a distraction to safe driving.

Special requirements:

Bus Driver accreditation

Level 2 First Aid certificate

Current Working with Children Check
