Ella Phillips has received a perfect ATAR of 99.95 during a pandemic.
Ella Phillips has received a perfect ATAR of 99.95 after a challenging year of learning from home for the better half of the year.
“It is pure disbelief! I was not expecting to get a 99.95,” said Miss Phillips.
Ella studied Specialist Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, English, French, Chemistry and Biology (in Year 11). Her top performing individual study scores she received (out of 50) were 50 in English and French and 49 in Chemistry.
“It feels like a dream to say these scores out loud!”
Ella's Class truly demonstrated fortitude, grace and resilience as the School was forced to transition to remote learning for almost two terms. Yet, Ella’s mental strength proved that no matter where her classroom was or how she was learning (via Zoom or in person), she rolled up her sleeves and got to work with gusto.
“One of the benefits to the confinement of the pandemic was that I was home 24/7 to dedicate my time to study. I worked pretty hard and I hoped to do well. I kept saying to myself, ‘It is just a few months!’ and at times I did feel it was just constant work, but the hard work paid off.”
It is Ella’s intention to study Biomedicine at The University of Melbourne with hopes of being a Paediatrician.
“It is definitely something I want to do in the future,” she said.
