The 2017 House Dance Competition was an impressive display of creativity, talent and quirky costumes. Hosted by teachers (or shall we say students…) Clairette, Trentette and Lisette, all Houses displayed immense enthusiasm and shook Prudence Lewty Hall with the loudest chants to date!

Grammar House followed the adventures of Marty McFly and Doc Brown as they ventured ‘back to the future’ with outstanding time-period performances, including an epic lightsaber fight between Marty and Darth Vader. Saints let us through the imaginative world of Roald Dahl with exemplary dancing and fantastical costumes, all the while battling the evils of Miss Agatha Trunchbull. McCowan had its eyes on the prize as they showcased Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscar-worthy winning movies with spine-tingling performances, from Romeo and Juliet to Inception. And finally, Kent took showed us ‘It’s a Small World’ by taking us on a journey to different countries – but what’s a round-the-world trip without going to Disneyland?!

We won’t keep you in suspense any longer. The results were:

1st    Kent
2nd   Saints
3rd   Grammar
4th    McCowan

The Kent House Captains, Emer Sparkes and Hannah Eddy, couldn’t contain their excitement as our competition judge, Ms Jess Hayes, announced the results.

“It doesn’t matter who wins because there is nothing better than performing with your best friends. There is no opportunity to do this after school and it’s always so amazing to see what all the girls put together. I honestly wish we could split this trophy with the other Houses because all performances were outstanding,” said Emer and Hannah.

Congratulations to all Houses on another memorable show. In the end, solid team work and brilliant leadership paid off for Kent - the victors of 2017 House Dance!
