With a beautiful single campus in Mentone, we offer the advantages of a seamless education from Prep to Year 12. We accept girls of all talents and abilities and pride ourselves on being culturally diverse, welcoming students of all faiths and cultures. Quality teaching, small classes, and an inspired curriculum, set within technology rich, purpose built learning centres have led to our long history of outstanding achievement. We strongly believe that our ultimate advantage is the individual care and attention we give our students.
To assist our local families and their children in choosing the appropriate school for their child, our ‘Prep Connections’ program introduces kinder students to our Prep classrooms, community and activities in the year prior to commencing school. The program encompasses the three final school terms of 2017 in order for families to feel informed and reassured in making their decisions and preparations in enrolling their daughters for Prep 2018.
TERM 3 ACTIVITIES
Connecting with the Junior School
On 31 August our ELC Pre Prep students and students from external kinders enrolled into Prep for 2018 will visit our Prep classrooms to enjoy both structured and play based activities with our Prep teachers. This allows the girls to gradually become more familiar with the Junior School classrooms and playground, in a supportive and comfortable manner. These sessions will continue into Term 4.
1 September - 'Getting Prepared - Numeracy Skills in Prep'
On Friday 1 September a parent presentation on 'Getting Prepared - Numeracy Skills in Prep' will held by our Prep teachers at 2pm (please meet at the ELC or Junior School reception). Afterwards parents will have the opportunity to chat to the teachers and Mrs Mathers with afternoon tea provided.
15 September - Prep Assembly
On Friday 15 September our ELC Pre-Prep students and external kinder students enrolled in Prep for 2018 will join the Prep Assembly in the Prudence Lewty Hall to give them the chance to experience a School assembly and learn about the activities the current Prep classes are doing.
TERM 4 ACTIVITIES
When: 19 & 24 October
Time: 9.00 - 11.00am
Students who have enrolled for Prep 2018 will attend their fi rst formal Prep Orientation session. In these sessions they will meet the Prep teachers and participate in more structured activities related to starting school. They will also have an opportunity to attend selected specialist classes. Whilst these sessions occur, we will present a Parent Information Session for 2018 families covering topics such as settling into school, items required for school and general information about the Prep routines. A curriculum evening is held early in 2018 to detail our learning programs.
Making connections throughout the year
There are many ways that pre-school families can make connections with the Junior School in the year preceding Prep.
Junior School assemblies
Families are invited to attend Junior School assemblies from 2.45pm each Friday in the School hall. This is a terrific way to see the Junior School girls in action, and a showcase of the various units of inquiry and co-curricular programs offered at the school.
Monday & Friday mornings at 8.45am
Our Prep – Year 6 girls participate in aerobics on the Junior School ball courts. Families are welcome to attend with their kinder-age daughters who are invited to join in the exercise with the big girls. Please note that parents are required to stay for the aerobics if their daughters participate.
**School tours with our Admissions Manager, Glenda McDonald, may be booked in at any time during the year. Ann Mathers and the Prep teachers are happy to answer any questions you may have about starting Prep in 2018.
