We are thrilled to announce that Mentone Girls' Grammar has been named one of The Educator magazine’s 2016 Innovative Schools!

Only 40 schools across Australia have received this accolade, which celebrates impressive initiatives that schools have employed to optimise students’ educational experiences. The 2016 Innovative Schools list highlights how schools have introduced an innovative edge in everything they do, from pedagogy to technology and all aspects of K-12 education.

Mentone Girls’ Grammar has been acknowledged for our Enterprise Academy which is designed to provide greater visibility and space for this strategic priority to develop future-focused enterprise education for young women.

The Enterprise Academy is about harnessing enterprising culture, making the boundaries between classroom, industry, individual agency and real-world thinking more porous, aligned with collaborative, hands-on, experiential teaching and learning. It is measured, not by job or wealth creation, but by its impact on personal development and the growth of ethical, confident young women who can facilitate their own success.

Principal, Fran Reddan, says the Enterprise Academy has been a ‘virtual’ incubator for nearly ten years and is now a physical space for students to develop their entrepreneurial ideas.

“There are so many enterprise initiatives already taking place across the School, but it is exciting that in 2016, we will have a physical space to boost the convergence of innovation, creativity, communication, positive risk-taking, critical thinking, intercultural understanding and most of all, to promote a positive ‘can-do’ attitude to make ideas of value happen,” said Mrs Reddan.

Thank you to The Educator magazine for this fabulous recognition of our enterprise learning and development!
