Our mPowered Wellbeing Framework is research-informed and driven by best practice. Using the Wellbeing by Design methodology, this framework is tailored to the needs of our students and is flexible enough to respond to current and emerging issues.
Wellbeing in the ELC and Junior School is a shared responsibility, with staff working collaboratively to support students’ social, emotional, and learning needs. Classroom teachers build strong relationships and provide consistent care, supported by specialist staff, the Junior School Leadership Team, and the broader wellbeing team. A strong sense of belonging is fostered through the wellbeing curriculum, class groups, daily routines such as morning check-ins, and structured wellbeing conversations, complemented by transition and buddy programs and student leadership opportunities that promote a caring, inclusive community.
Pastoral care in the Senior School ensures every student is well known, supported, and connected. Heads of Year oversee wellbeing at each year level, working closely with tutors and support staff to monitor progress and respond to individual needs. All students belong to a tutor group, providing a consistent sense of connection and belonging — year-level based in Years 7–9 and vertical, House-based groups in Years 10–12 to foster cross-age relationships and strengthen School culture. Daily tutor time offers regular opportunities for check-ins, guidance and connection, while weekly pastoral periods are dedicated to the delivery of our Wellbeing curriculum. This curriculum is intentionally planned to build skills and understanding in a way that is age and stage appropriate.
Our Learning Support Program provides a structured, compassionate, and evidence‑informed approach, aligned with the Multi-Tiered System of Support model, to ensure students can access the curriculum with confidence and achieve success at every stage of their schooling.
We focus on understanding each student as a learner, making targeted adjustments, and removing barriers to learning. In partnership with families and external professionals, we build core skills, foster independence, and empower students to thrive throughout their school journey.
Our dedicated team of Counsellors and Psychologists support every student from ELC to Year 12, offering individual support, small group programs and evidence-informed therapeutic approaches tailored to diverse needs.
Available during school hours, they provide a safe and confidential space for students to share concerns, navigate challenges and work towards personal goals. Working in partnership with staff, families and external professionals, they ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to wellbeing. Through this proactive, collaborative model of care, we foster an environment where every student feels supported, understood and empowered to thrive.
Medical care is overseen by our registered School Nurse, who is available on campus each day. All teachers are trained in First Aid, anaphylaxis and Asthma management, and families are encouraged to work with the nurse to ensure individual medical needs are met with care and clarity.
Mentone Girls’ Grammar welcomes students from all faiths and beliefs, with our Anglican identity providing a foundation for our values. Our culture is guided by Christian teachings — including kindness, integrity, respect, service and inclusion — which are reflected in our daily interactions, expectations of community behaviour, and our commitment to nurturing a strong moral compass in every student.
We maintain a close relationship with St Augustine’s Anglican Church in Mentone, offering opportunities for worship, reflection and connection.
