Winner of this year’s solo Golden Note competition Evie Gofman was one of the 22 junior girls showcasing their musical talents, in what Music Teacher Ella Marton has described as a stunning array of talent.
The Year 5 student, who sang and played guitar to her original composition Magical Lyrics and Chords, impressed Golden Note (external) adjudicator Ms Sarah Patterson, Head of Choral Studies at Wesley College with her “wonderful” performance.
“It takes a lot of courage to sing your own song and you did it beautifully,” said Ms Patterson “I really enjoyed your song and the positive lyrics”.
Cellist, Emilie Yu and Violinist, Ella Zou, both in Year 6, also received honourable mentions in the solo section of last week’s Junior School Golden Note held in the Rose Function Room.
Winner of the group division was the Junior School Quintet, made up of Nicole Frank, Thy Phan, Adelaide Sage, Emilie Yu and Ella Zou, who performed a “polished performance” of Fire in the Forge.
“It was a wonderful night,” said Ms Marton “it was a pleasure to see so many young girls come and perform with such confidence”.
“Classical music is the one true global language,” she added.
