With the wide range of sporting opportunities available, students are encouraged to participate and strive to achieve their goals, whilst building positive relationships within the school community.
Game On
Junior School students in Years 3 to 6 are strongly encouraged to participate in competitive sport, with an emphasis on fostering sportsmanship and teamwork. Students in Years 5 and 6 represent the School inter-school competitions through School Sport Victoria (SSV) and Girls' Sport Victoria (GSV). Morning
Running, Community Netball and Aerobics, Dance and Glee programs further enrich these opportunities.
Champions in the making
Sport is highly valued at Mentone Girls’ Grammar, each week, all Senior School students participate in a compulsory sport period. Students can elect to compete in either GSV Weekly Sport or in an onsite non-competitive option.
Students can elect to participate in a range of carnival sports, including Cross Country, Swimming, Diving and Athletics, as well as our community sport programs including Community Netball and the Aerobics, Dance and Glee programs
Extracurricular Offerings
To support our extensive sports program, we provide students with access to Strength & Conditioning, Pilates, and Yoga. Additionally, our extracurricular offerings include Community Netball, which competes every Saturday, as well as Aerobics, Dance and Glee, Recreational Swimming, Learn to Dive, Recreational Tennis, and Self-Defence.
Training and numerous competitions are held in our world-class sporting facilities.
School Spirit & Friendly Competition
Our House sports system sees our students assigned to one of four house colours - Grammar House (Red), St Margaret's (Saints) House (Gold), McCowan House (Green) and Kent House (Blue). Throughout the year, students are given the opportunity to participate in several House events, such as swimming, dance, music, drama, cross-country and athletics.
