Jess is a highly experienced and deeply respected educational leader whose warmth, insight, and moral purpose have shaped her career in primary education. She holds a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Teaching from Deakin University, and joins Mentone Girls’ Grammar from Mentone Grammar, where she currently serves as Head of Eblana campus (Prep to Year 4).
A calm and values-driven leader, Jess brings deep expertise in curriculum design, pedagogy, and wellbeing. She has led curriculum development aligned to the Victorian Curriculum, ensuring consistency across English, Mathematics, and other learning areas, and aligning reporting and assessment with achievement standards. Jess’s commitment to evidence-informed teaching is matched by her passion for building teacher capacity through mentoring, coaching, and professional learning that links research with classroom practice.
At the heart of Jess’s educational philosophy is her belief that every child deserves to be known, seen, and heard. She has overseen the wellbeing and development of more than 240 students, fostering inclusive environments where every learner can flourish. She leads with integrity and relational trust, guiding teams through change with composure, empathy, and a shared sense of purpose.
Jess shares our belief in the power of girls’ education and is inspired by our mission to empower confident, compassionate, and capable young women. In her words, “I believe in a holistic approach to education — one that fosters both academic growth and student wellbeing within a nurturing and dynamic environment. I’m excited to join a community where every girl is encouraged to explore her passions, take risks, and develop the confidence to lead her own learning.”
As we prepare for this new chapter, Jess will work closely with Bridget Crough, Head of the Junior School, to ensure strong, stable, and aligned leadership across all aspects of Junior School life. Together, they will continue to nurture a culture of excellence, collaboration, and care that enables every girl to thrive.
We warmly welcome Jess to the Mentone Girls’ Grammar community and look forward to the thoughtful leadership, expertise, and genuine care she will bring to enrich our Junior School and the lives of the students and families she serves.
