Early Learning
At the Sarah Simpson Early Learning Centre, our littlest learners dream with their eyes open.
Our ELC Curriculum
Our ELC curriculum includes a unique blend of inquiry and play-based learning, based on the philosophies of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP). We immerse our young learners in experiences which enable them to explore, question, collaborate, think critically, problem solve, communicate and discover new knowledge, all within a fun and nurturing environment.
The ELC Experience
Days are structured through indoor and outdoor play with a range of natural and made materials available so the girls can imagine, explore and experiment. Students participate in a diverse range of specialist classes which play a part in both cognitive and physical development, as well as building emotional and social skills:
- Ballet
- Beach Kinder
- Music
- Chinese
- Library
- PE
Our unique beachside location enables us to utilise our ‘classroom on the beach’ which provides a wonderful learning environment for our ELC students.
Dedicated Staff and Specialist Teachers
Our ELC students are nurtured and supported by highly qualified and passionate staff. Our team of specialist early years’ teachers, who are supported by dedicated co-educators, are also primary trained and therefore understand the needs of each student as they prepare for school.
Awards
Our Early Learning Centre (ELC) is leading the way in early years education for girls, and has been awarded the highest possible rating of ‘Exceeding National Quality Standards’ in the National ELC Frameworks Accreditation.
