At Mentone Girls’ Grammar, our Senior School is a place of challenge, discovery and growth. Across Years 7 to 12, students are supported to become confident, capable and compassionate young women - empowered to lead lives of purpose and possibility.
Through exceptional teaching, a strong culture of care, and a breadth of learning opportunities, each student is equipped to thrive both at School and beyond.
Years 7 and 8: These years are known as a ‘Journey of Discovery’. These first two years of Senior School form a carefully designed transition between junior learning and the more independent demands of the senior years. Students engage in a broad and challenging academic program while participating in rich co-curricular life. Pastoral care is a priority, supporting and guiding our students, as they start discovering opportunities and learning the importance of taking ownership of their learning.
Year 9: This middle year is a pivotal stage in each student’s journey – 'A Year of Challenge and Growth' - a time of growing independence, self-discovery, and personal challenge.
The year begins with Starting Strong in Term 1, where students build essential skills through team building and personal development. In Term 2, the On Country immersion in Central Australia deepens cultural understanding and fosters independence. The SPARK program further ignites curiosity and passions, guiding students to explore their future pathways. Throughout the year, students are encouraged to step beyond their comfort zones, engage with new ideas, and develop resilience that will equip them for the senior years ahead.
Years 10, 11 and 12: Our 3-Year VCE program, begins in Year 10 and continues through Years 11 and 12. This extended pathway provides students with a strong foundation for success in the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), allowing greater flexibility, confidence and balance throughout the senior years. With specialist teaching, dedicated study spaces, and personalised guidance, every girl is supported to excel academically, explore future pathways, and grow into a young woman of integrity, insight, and impact.
The perfect blend
Our Senior School curriculum also extends to a diverse range of academic enrichment opportunities. This is through our:

- Academic Enrichment and Coaching Programs
- Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Tailored to suit all needs
In addition to core and elective classes, our students have access to a wide range of co-curricular offerings. From performing arts to sports, community service to entrepreneurship, these opportunities allow our students to pursue their dreams, ignite their passions, and explore their interests.
Known, seen and heard
We are committed to the holistic development of every student at Mentone Girls’ Grammar, and that includes their mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing. Our dedicated team of Student Wellbeing Specialists work closely with students and their teachers to provide tailored support, advice and guidance.
LEADING THE WAY
At Mentone Girls' Grammar, we recognise the importance of technology in supporting student learning and development, particularly for our VCE students. We utilise extensive technologies to ensure that our students have access to the latest tools and resources, enabling them to reach their full potential.
A RICH HISTORY
To further help our VCE students achieve their ambitions, we introduce them to our Alumnae, the Mentone Girls’ Grammar Old Girls’ Club (OGC). This club—featuring over 7,000 remarkable graduates in more than 50 countries—not only provides ongoing mentoring to our current students, but also aims to foster a sense of community and networking. Upon graduating, all our students become a member of this Club, enjoying many benefits to help keep them connected within our community.
