At Mentone Girls’ Grammar, we recognise the vital importance of supporting the wellbeing of our students. Every staff member is dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment where students feel valued, can explore their passions, learn from challenges, and grow into confident, capable, and ethical young people.
At the heart of our approach is the Wellbeing Centre. Nestled in a peaceful corner of the campus, this purpose-designed space offers students a place to seek support, reflect quietly, or simply recharge. The Centre is staffed by a highly qualified team of psychologists, counsellors, and wellbeing educators who work closely with students, staff, and families to foster a healthy, inclusive, and supportive school culture — ensuring every girl feels known, seen, and cared for.
Mentone Girls’ Grammar is proud to have dedicated Educational Psychologists and Counsellors who support students from ELC through to Year 12. They are available during school hours to listen to students’ concerns, help them process challenges, and support them in setting and achieving goals.
Our counsellors also provide psychological counselling, therapy, and programs for individuals and groups, addressing a range of mental health, emotional, and family issues. Working in partnership with other staff, relevant professionals, and parents, they strive to achieve positive outcomes for student wellbeing. We take the wellbeing of our students seriously, and our counsellors are an integral part of our commitment to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for every student.
Medical care is overseen by our registered School Nurse, who is available on campus each day. All staff are trained in First Aid, anaphylaxis and Asthma management, and families are encouraged to work with the nurse to ensure individual medical needs are met with care and clarity.
At Mentone Girls’ Grammar, every student is known, understood, and supported. Our Learning Support program provides a structured, compassionate, and evidence-informed approach that enables students to access the curriculum with confidence and achieve success at every stage of their schooling.
We focus on understanding each student as a learner, making targeted adjustments where needed, and removing barriers to learning. By developing core skills and fostering independence, we empower students to thrive throughout their Prep–12 journey.
Mentone Girls’ Grammar welcomes students from all faiths and beliefs, and our Anglican identity underpins our values and principles. Our culture is shaped by Christian principles – including kindness, integrity, respect, service and inclusion – which are reflected in our daily interactions, our expectations of community behaviour, and our commitment to fostering a strong moral foundation in every student.
Mentone Girls' Grammar maintains a close relationship with St Augustine’s Anglican Church in Mentone, offering opportunities for
worship, reflection and connection as part of our shared Anglican identity.
In addition to our dedicated team of wellbeing professionals, we provide further support to our students through daily mindfulness practices in the classroom, our House System, transition programs, buddy system and parent information sessions. These initiatives are designed to foster a positive and inclusive school culture, providing students with the tools they need to succeed academically, socially and emotionally. We believe that a holistic approach to education, one that encompasses both wellbeing and academic support, is essential to helping our students thrive
