Ms Charles commenced as Principal of Mentone Girls’ Grammar School in 2020.

She began her career as a teacher of English and Literature at Melbourne Grammar School, where she held several senior roles, including Head of Deakin House and Director of Staff.

Following this, she assumed the position of Head of Senior School at Carey Baptist Grammar School. She was responsible for delivering education to more than 800 Senior School students and for their teachers' leadership, management, and development.

Ms Charles believes that at their core, schools must address the fundamental need that all young people have for purpose, meaning and belonging, which in turn instils hope of the kind that will enable them to transcend the often-vexed parameters of our time.
