The Mentone Girls' Grammar Track and Field team competed at the GSV Division 2 Athletics Carnival on 29 August with outstanding results.  Our team achieved 32 firsts, 18 seconds and 23 thirds from the 168 events.  The Juniors won their section with the Inters finishing 3rd and the Seniors in 4th.

 

Head of Sport, Libby Lewin was delighted with the results. "Overall we came second, a great team performance and our best result in Athletics since 2002."

"The top 10 competitors from the three GSV carnivals are invited to the GSV Track and Field Finals night, held on 10 September. This year we qualified for 32 individual events and 4 relays. Only seven of the 24 GSV schools qualified more athletes for this prestigious event which will take place next Tuesday night."

Kate W - Year 10 Long Jump A

Olivia E - Year 11 Javelin A, Discus A

Ms Lewin said "The outstanding results have come from dedication by the athletes to the training program and tireless organisation and motivation from the Head of Athletics, Michael Lawrence. Along with his team of expert coaches, we have seen the attendance at training sessions hit record highs this year and this application to training has led to remarkable results on the track and in the field."
